I enjoyed this alien sci fi romance. It was a complete story not just an excuse for some sex scenes. The aliens seemed alien instead of just different colored human hunks. The world building was pretty good and I liked the alieness of the world she eventually landed on. This ended on a cliff hanger for the most part. I say that because she basically had no conflict left with the men but there is plenty left to survive the coming floods and I assume some sort of trauma when they meet up with the rest of the alien society.

Decent sci fi romance to wile away an afternoon. The world building is not the greatest but okay.

This is the first book in a new series of standalones all connected by the same storyline but written by a different author.
Zaek is a Khargal General (Gargoyle) stranded on earth with his brethren but living in isolation alone for a millennium.
He and his fellow explorers were stranded while on a mission for resources a long time past.
Mira an orphan works for the government primarily at area 51.
She is tasked with decoding some ancient tech that belongs to Zaek's people.
When Zaek comes for the device he also finds himself rescuing Mira from her own people as they mistakenly decide she is in cahoots with the alien himself.
When Zaek's mating gland is flipped declaring her his true mate he will do anything in his power to see her safe and protected.
Zaek was just so edible with his bumbling bashfull cuteness the way he called her his fluffy bunny just made my heart patter.
They were just so adorably curious about each other with there sneaky side glances at each other.
They really were just so delightful together.
I also thought the way that Zaek constantly referred to himself as us and talked to himself all the time a consequence of being alone for aeons just such an endearing trait and Mira herself was a such a tiny power-house and oh so very brave.
I also really appreciated the whole gargoyle appearance.
Gravel and Gritt was such a lovely feel-good story it wasn't incredibly complicated but it worked.
One thing that did strike me as slightly far-fetched was Mira's fighting prowess considering her previous lack of experience a few weeks training is not gonna match you with holding off trained government officials but hey ho I just went with the flow despite the unbelieving factor involved.
This one was a sweet easy read that I enjoyed.
